@8tracks: “There was this one time in Berlin”

She had a chance to get out of New York before her job and her man both left her. Berlin was a whirl of late nights and early mornings driven by techno and cocaine. Dopamine depleted, collapsed on the plane in the window fairly certain that she would get a fat mouth breathing pedestrian Midwesterner seated next to her, but instead, looking up through make-up smeared eyes, it was just what she didn’t need.

The Wallow Fire

(June 27, 2011)

Sides of memories curl, charred

edges. Images run off paper, acrid

acids plume and undulate, air

“Can we talk about what we take?”

thickening. Designed time, Paley’s

hour. Deceiving time where, none

is present. At the last moments, a breath

“Can we?”

cracks. A tree in our back yard, snapping

fingers. Fireflies, ash, sparks, snatching

our possessions.  Away, seconding

“Our whole history, isn’t it?”

the gavel drops. The impossible, evaporating

mist on our last vacation. Ireland, was it

green. Red buts in, interrupting

“Seems like an adultery?”

a train. Yes, it does

seem, all time has passed. Clutching

our hands. We step out to

“Doesn’t it?”

Greer, the streets. Emptied, black

drive way seams, bead up. Running

lava, islands. Empty, leaving

“Shouldn’t we?”

the house to its hour. Grey flecks, settle

scores. Turning back, we see our past

burn to the ground.

“Watching the shied core
Striking the basket, skidding across the floor,
Shows less and less of luck, and more and more Of failure spreading back up the arm
Earlier and earlier, the unraised hand calm,
The apple unbitten in the palm.”
As Bad as a Mile by Philip Larkin Classic Famous Poet - All Poetry.

This was my very first Tumblr post ever. 4/6/2009. I just went back through my archives and saw so many flashes of memes, meaningful moments, digital connect, real life intersections. All because of this amazing platform.
